With compassion and charity being the recent trend of today in the public, more and more people are deciding to give blessings for the less fortunate. The Charities Aid Foundation's 2016 World Giving Index released their current research where it looked upon three main categories to count a country as generous: the people should have helped a stranger, donated money, and volunteered for a cause.

Here is a list of the top three countries who scored high in these categories.

Giving is common in Myanmar. The country ranked number one both in CAF and the 2016 Global Civic Engagement Report of Gallup, a research aimed to rank countries based on the concept of volunteerism.

"The high scores are likely to be a result of Theravada Buddhism practiced by a large proportion of the population in Myanmar, whereby followers donate to support those living a monastic lifestyle - a practice known as Sangha Dana," the CAF report stated.

The country averaged 70% in overall ranking where 63% of respondents helped a stranger, 91% donated money, and 55% volunteered.

United States ranks second. The United States World Record Index Score is 61% and placed as the second most generous country in the world.

"Around three quarters (73%) of Americans helped a stranger in this year's Index but this has fallen slightly by three percentage points from last year (76%). However, the proportion of Americans volunteering their time has increased slightly from 44% last year to 46% this year."

Australians are also big on money donations. Donating money ranked the highest in Australia's three categories, where it scored 73%. 68% said they helped a stranger and 40% said they volunteered. Australia's overall average is 60%.

The study pointed out that the people are more inclined to donate or give money than to volunteer or aid a person in need. Most of the countries ranked high in the category of donating money.
