Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon are the newest role-playing game installments in the seven generation Pokemon series, which were created by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS console. In celebration of the franchise's 20th anniversary, Sun and Moon was officially released on November 18, which is longtime coming since the first announcement last February 2016.

These two installments are making their way to the mainstream society and tagged by Wired as the "kinder, gentler Pokemon game". In the Pokemon Go app, trainers train their magical creatures. On the other hand, the Sun and Moon offers a new Pokemon game set- up that takes place in the "Alola Region". Players describe this region as having a "Hawaii-esque" sun-and-sand tropical vibe and compost of islands, The Exponent reports.

In an interview with Shigeru Ohmori in E3 2016, he divulged that Game Freaks traveled all the way to Hawaii to study the geographical location of the place to conduct research as well for the development of Sun and Moon. There is also a scientist in the Alola region named Professor Kukui, which they found out later on that kukui means "candlenut" in Hawaii, the Hawaiian state tree. Other professors in the game were also named after the trees. Predecessors were also present in this region and are being referred to as Team Skull.

The Sun and Moon, like the older versions are still presented in a three- dimensional graphics. However, the game creator wants it to be fully interactive. So, the players are able to train and catch the magical creatures known as Pokemon and the trainers should defeat other trainers in a battle in order for their to level-up. While doing so, players may also catch wild Pokemon during their journey, which will be added to the player's collection. The site added, the difference between the two is that the setting of Moon is 12 hours ahead as compared to Sun. This can be determined by adding 12 hours on top of the time indicated on the 3DS. Also, the availability of Pokemon differs between the two releases.

The Sun and Moon addition to the Pokemon series earned positive reviews from the players. Metacritic rated the game with 86/100 based on 31 reviews. IGN gave this installment a grade of 9/10, while Nintendo Life referred to the game as the "best Pokemon games ever produced". What do you think the newest Pokemon games?
