"Stranger Things" has another reason to get the fans ecstatic about the second season. The Netflix smash horror thriller has recently added three new cast members that include Sean Astin, Paul Reiser and Linnea BerthelsenAstin will play the role of Bob Newby, a manager of the Hawkins Radio Shack. His character is a kind hearted former nerd who went to highschool with Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) and Sheriff Jim Hopper (David Harbour).

On a Variety article, it was described that the actor's stardom in 80's and 90's films namely "The Goonies" and "Rudy" as well as "The Lord Of The Rings" trilogy," fit well in the "Stranger Things" aesthetic. Astin's role as Mikey, in "The Goonies," as group leader Mikey "may be the biggest nod" for the Duffers for him to be cast on the second season and that 80's classic was also the inspiration for the series, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Reiser's role will be Dr. Owens, a high ranking member of the Department of Energy, who is assigned to clean-up the events of the previous year, when a murderous monster called the Demogorgon came from another dimension to spread terror to the small town of Hawkins and for kidnapping Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) according to Variety. On an analysis made by EW, given that we don't know what happened to Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine),who was the villain in the first season, it seems like Owens "could be the the season's government baddie.".

The show's creators, the Duffer Brothers told EW that the second season will feel like a movie sequel to James Cameron's films like "Terminator 2" and "Aliens," where the actor played the villain, Carter Burke. "I think one of the reasons [Cameron's] sequels are successful as they are is he makes them feel very different than what came before without losing what we loved about the original," Matt Duffer said to EW back in August.

Berthelsen, an upcoming Danish actress, will play Roman, "an emotionally damaged young woman who suffered a big loss as a kid." She is not a Hawkins resident but she is connected to the terrifying events at the Department of Energy laboratory on the first season mentioned by the Variety article. EW predicts that she may have a lot of qualities in common with a "young lady who favors a buzz-cut accessorized with a nose bleed."

Sean Astin, Paul Reiser and Linnea Bertelsen will join new fellow Stranger Things actors Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery for Season 2. The next chapter of the series is currently in production and will premiere by 2017 on Netflix. Below is an 80's-set news program based on the events of Season 1.
