The NBA recently announced that there would be a first-ever NBA Awards Show that will take place in New York City on Monday, June 26, 2017. The show, which will be televised exclusively by TNT, will feature current and former NBA players, coaches and celebrities.

According to NBA, the star-studded event will recognize and honor NBA players, teams, coaches, and executives for their accomplishments and performances from the 2016-17 NBA season. The show will also include the announcements of the Kia NBA Rookie of the Year, Kia NBA Sixth Man Award, Kia NBA Most Improved Player, and Coach of the Year.

"For many years, the NBA has announced the MVP winner, along with other wards, during play of the NBA postseason. Starting next year, people will have to get accustomed to the awards being revealed right after the conclusion of the NBA Finals and the night before the NBA Draft takes place," CBS Sports quoted.

For three years, these awards were announced and given separately throughout the postseason, but the upcoming event marks the first time that all recipients will be honored on the same night. There will also be additional awards to be revealed at a later date as well as the venue, the host and the list of presenters.

Meanwhile, entering to its 33rd consecutive year of NBA coverage, Turner Sports will showcase an expanded 64-game schedule on TNT throughout the 2016-17 NBA regular season. Aside from being the exclusive home of NBA All-Star 2017 in New Orleans and the 66th NBA All-Star Game, the network will televise more than 40 NBA Playoff games. While this can be an exciting news for others, this is also a bad news for some NBA fans because they have to wait even longer to know who the MVP this season is.
