Chicago has been filled with much elation after the Chicago Cubs won the World Series since 1908. The Cubs are the new World Series champions after beating the Cleveland Indians with the score 8-7 in 10 innings Wednesday night.

Dexter Fowler and David Ross kept the momentum and started delivering home runs. The game went to extra innings tying at 6-6 not before the 20-minute rain delay. The Cubs took the lead of 8-6 with the hits from Ben Zobrist and Miquel Montero. In the 5th inning, the Cubs' David Ross, the 39-year-old catcher also made history becoming the oldest player ever to homer in a World Series Game 7.

The folk lore started when Billy Sianis, owner of the Billy Goat Tavern in Chicago was barred from entering the Wrigley Field of the 1945 World Series with his pet goat. Murphy, because the odor of his pet was bothering other fans. This curse lasted from 1945-2016. The Cubs lost the 1945 World Series to Detroit Tigers and did not win World Series Championships until 2016.

Many have never imagined this day to arrive. The Cubs is finally a champion on their own following its triumph in 1907-1908. They ended their 2016 season with a record of 103-58 (.640) record based on Baseball Reference Website.

The nation witnessed the loyal fans shower in champagne and beers and tears of joy. Fans of many generations have felt its glorious victory and calling it the most thrilling finish of all time. This is the ultimate dream. The dream of not only getting into the World series but winning it as well.

The City of Chicago will be celebrating their grand victory for the Cubs on Friday, November 4. A parade will be held on its way to Grant Park. Fans are encouraged to catch the downtown parade and celebrate with the players for their victorious win.
