Donald Grover joins the cast of "Star Wars."

The actor and Grammy nominated artist has been chosen to portray the young Lando Calrissian in the Disney and Lucasfilm's still untitled Han Solo standalone film which will be released in 2018.

The movie will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and will show Lando "in his formative years as a scoundrel on the rise in the galaxy's underworld."

According to CNN, originally, Lando was played by Billy Dee Williams in "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi."

Williams first got the role of Calrissian in "The Empire Strikes Back". His character made appearances as the head of Cloud City, a floating city above the planet Bespin. The Hollywood Reporter adds that he "has a competitive and strained friendship with Solo, having lost the starship Millennium Falcon to the smuggler and future Rebel commander in a card game."

Glover also joins Alden Ehrenreich, who was asked to play Han Solo, originally portrayed by Harrison Ford, in July.

"We're so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us," said Lord and Miller. "These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we'd like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever."

Prior to the casting, Glover was a former member of NBC's cult comedy "Community." In fact, he was a fan favorite. Fans even had a campaign for him to play Spider-Man when Sony was then working on the reboot that later became 2012's "The Amazing Spider-Man". Even though Andrew Garfield played the role, Glover voiced Spider-Man Miles Morales on Disney XD's animated series "Ultimate Spider-Man".

Currently, he stars on FX's "Atlanta", and will be seen in "Spider-Man: Homecoming".

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens," was launched in December and became a hit in the box office. As of now, it has earned over $2 billion worldwide.

Meanwhile, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" debuts in December.
