The drama series of NBC entitled "This Is Us" looks like it's going to be a hit for the fall TV season. The pilot episode got ten million same-day viewers.

The Washington Post wrote that adding the DVR viewing to the show, the numbers jumped to 14.6 million. The family-drama series is starring Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia and Sterling K. Brown.

According to Adweek, the series "premiere had the most social media activity out of any new fall show, including cable."

NBC announced that the second episode of "This Is Us" stayed with 8.7 million viewers, and went up to 13.9 million with DVR.

During the show's third week, 9.9 million viewers tuned in, while in the show's fourth episode, it gathered 9.6 million viewers.

The success of the series came out as a surprise because CBS has the most highest-rated new fall shows, including "Kevin Can Wait," "Bull" and "MacGuyver." The network is also the most-watched in total viewers.

Furthermore, "This Is Us" is said to be surprisingly successful because of its subject matter. It is a "thoughtful, emotional, multilayered drama" which is "not always the type of show that survives on a network in the cutthroat 'peak TV' environment. Clearly viewers are not losing patience, even when the show gets saccharine."

"This Is Us" is written by Dan Fogelman, who also wrote Crazy, Stupid Love, Popsugar reported.

The series is about a group of people who all share the same birthday and "are on the verge of some major life changes as they all turn 36."

Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore play as a married couple who were about to have triplets. Justin Hartley's role is an actor, Sterling K. Brown is on a search to find his birth father, and Chrissy Metz is fighting an eating addiction.
