The band Green Day debuted number one spot in the weekly U.S Billboard 200 album chart, claiming the spot former number one Solange Knowles and defeating new entries from One Republic and Norah Jones.

According to Reuters, the 12th studio album of Greenday, entitled "Revolution Radio" has sold 90, 100 albums, 14, 000 songs and got streamed 47 million times, amounting to 95, 000 album units. The figures are gathered from Nielsen SoundScan for the week ending October 13.

The former chart-topper, Solange Knowles' "A Seat at the Table," declined to number six.

Meanwhile, the jazz singer Norah Jones' "Day Breaks" totaling 47, 000 album units made its way to number two spot, and One Republic's "Oh My My" debuted at number three selling 45, 000 album units.

Other entries on the Billboard 200 album chart album are "The Last Hero" by Alter Bridge, which dropped at number eight, and at number nine is "Three" by Phantogram.

On the other hand, The Chainsmokers and Halsey's hit song "Closer" held the top spot selling another 123, 000 copies on the Digital Songs chart. The chart measures weekly online single sales.

The last led of the band in Billboard 200 was approximately seven years ago, with the album '21st Century Breakdown'. It debuted onto the chart in May 30, 2009, according to Billboard.

After "21st Century Breakdown," Greenday's next studio album was the "Uno!", "Dos!", "Tre!" trilogy. The series of studio albums was released in 2012, in which "Uno!" and "Dos!" ranked at number two and nine while "Tre!" peaked at top 13 in its opening frame.

Back in 2004 and 2005, Greenday's first number one album, American Idiot spent three consecutive weeks at number one.

Generally, "Revolution Radio" is the band's tenth top 10 album. "Bang Bang" is a track from the album "which garnered the act its 21st top ten hit on the Alternative Songs airplay chart."

Other bands such as Foo Fighters, U2 and Red Hot Chili Peppers are the only acts with more top tens on the 28-year-old-tally.
