A milestone will be witnesses by The Simpsons fans for the show will air its 600th episode this week.

According to Fox News, the show aired its first episode in 1989 featuring the gang of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie in Fox channel's primetime episode. 'The Simpsons' debuted in 1987 as a feature during the “Tracey Ullman Show."

The tv show will make history as they premiere their 28th season, the 600th episode of the show.

James L. Brooks, one of the “The Simpsons” co-creators reminisced and said in a statement that he remembers when some magazines like "Satellite News" put them on the cover 27 years ago.

"I said, ‘Oh my God, we’re on the cover!’ And put it on my wall. Remember how in ‘Tootsie,’ there’s this montage where all these magazine covers start coming at you at once? It was like that, and suddenly all the covers were on my wall. There’s an actual sound that happens when you enter the culture and I remember experiencing that," he added.

The show is still continuing to make its own mark in history as they enter their 28th season. The season's premiere episode will be “Treehouse of Horror XXVII." It will be the first TV show to feature virtual reality.

"The Simpsons" airs on Fox every Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.
