The red-headed grappler continues to excite fans.

Anime Herald revealed through Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine (Issue 32) that Keisuke Itagaki's Baki manga will be having its anime adaptation.

Since this year is the 25th anniversary of the original Baki the Grappler (Grappler Baki) manga, the 14th volume of it will release on December 6th 2016 with a bundled anime DVD. This much-awaited book is animated at Telecom Animation Film and directed by Teiichi Takiguchi, who is also the character designer. It will also have both a standard and limited edition.

It can be remembered that it first debuted in the pages of Weekly Shonen Champion in 1991. The series aired through 1991, with 42 collected volumes.

The sequel series Baki: The Search of Our Strongest Hero was launched back in 1991 and spanned until November 2005, with a total of 31 volumes released.

At the end of the same year, Grappler Baki: Son of Ogre became available on newsstands on December 1, 2005 until the summer of 2012 with a total of 37 compiled books.

The ongoing and most recent series is Baki-Dou in Weekly Shonen Champion. It started in March 2014 and currently spans eleven volumes.

Baki the Grappler has received two TV 24-episode anime adaptations in 2001 and a 1994 OVA. The said OVA was released by Central Park Media in the west on VHS and DVD. Funimation, on the other hand, distributed the TV adaptations.

Above are just some of the recent updates regarding the anime adaptation of Baki manga. Further details will hopefully be given soon.

As for the new fans of Grappler Baki, The Fandom Post clearly discusses what the series is all about. It revolves around Baki Hanma and his quest to proclaim himself as the strongest grappler in the world, thus taking the title from his father. Baki also fights to gain the trust of his overly psychotic mother.
