Mark Salling, the American actor who was a cast in the comedy television series Glee, was formally charged by a federal grand jury on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography on his laptop computer.

The Department of Justice made it known to the public that Salling's laptop, a hard drive, and a USB flash drive seized from the former Glee star's residence allegedly contained thousands of images and videos that rendered child pornography, as stated by PEOPLE.

U.S. Attorney Eileen M. Decker said in a statement that individuals who download and possess child pornography will create a market that could be the reason of more children will be harmed. As young victims are in the state of being impaired every time a photo is generated, every time it is distributed, and every time it is viewed, E! News reported.

Salling, famous as Noah "Puck" Puckerman on the musical series of Ryan Murphy, allegedly agreed to surrender on June 3 to federal authorities to face the charges in the indictment. The 33 year old actor is expected to be arraigned on the indictment on the said date.

"It doesn't matter who you are or what you do, if you hurt a child, you will be held accountable," stated by Lt. Andrea Grossman (Commander of the LAPD Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force). "These images are more than photographs, it is considered a child abuse."

If Salling is proven guilty of 'receiving' child porn, the actor will face a minimum sentence of 5 years and a maximum of 20 years behind bars. And on Salling's charge of 'possessing' child porn, the former Glee cast could receive 20 years, according to TMZ.

Salling is the third notable individuals who got arrested for possession of child pornography in 2015. In July, director Jace Alexander was arrested, then on August - the former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle, DEADLINE reports.
