USA Today reported that The Opus hotel in Vancouver, Canada is getting the iPhone treatment.  This isn't the first time the hotel has incorporated Apple Inc. products into their rooms. In March, the hotel added iPad 2's to every room, making them the first hotel in Canada to offer the service. The iPads even come with a Virtual Concierge, making a stay easier and more convenient for guests.

The Opus' addition of iPhones is also a way to try to help guests. With the popularity of iPhones, the hotel figures that most people know how to use them by now and they'd like to see an upgrade from the old wireless phones. The iPhone will also help guests, especially those from the U.S., avoid having to pay international roaming fees on their own cell phones while staying at the hotel.

Many may be wondering what the point of upgrading to an iPhone is when many believe that the hotel phone in obsolete and goes unused anyway. The addition of the iPhone will change that. Unlike usual hotel phones, the hotel will allow guests to take the iPhone with them around the city of Vancouver to be used as a temporary regular cell phone.

The hotel iPhones help guests stay connected to the Internet and have the ability to make an receive calls while sightseeing, shopping, eating a meal, or going to a business meeting in Vancouver.

Like a hotel phone, the iPhones will also give guests access to various hotel departments. Each iPhone is programmed with contacts for places like the concierge, room service, housekeeping, and other hotel areas. Guests are also allowed to make local calls for free.

Guests may be concerned with their private data being seen by the following hotel guests' iPhone users, but The Opus is one step ahead. Using an application, all of the information that a guest inputs is cleared once they check out so that their privacy and security are protected.

"Technology is a way of life today, not just a perk, and that holds true even while traveling," Nicholas Gandossi, Opus Vancouver's general manager told USA Today.

The Opus Vancouver is located in Yaletown. This is a chic area with many shopping centers, restaurants, cafes, art galleries, spas, and other attractions, according to USA Today.
