Kate Middleton is set to inspire the youth of Portsmouth to take up sailing for her visit on the 1851 Trust headquarters on May 20. The engagement was confirmed following her appointment as the patron of Wimbledon Tennis Club to replace the Duke of Kent.

Middleton will launch the first two sailing projects of the trust in collaboration with Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation and UKSA. She aims to inspire young people to be engaged in sailing and science, having experienced a round-the-world trip on a yacht, which made her a fitting patron for the trust.

The Duchess of Cambridge, who is an 1851 Trust Royal Patron, will also meet local schoolchildren who are part of the #STEMCREW digital workshops for America's Cup challenge on engineering, math, science and technology.

She is also set to open the Tech Deck Education Centre which will give visitors a glimpse of the technology for sailing as well as the operation for America's Cup boat team, Hello Magazine reported.

Previously, Middleton was also involved in many engagements for the Trust that includes the America's Cup World Series in Portsmouth in July 2015, which was unfortunately cancelled due to poor weather.

Recently, the Queen of Wimbledon crowned her as the new patron for 2017 with the responsibility of presenting trophies to the champions in future games and tournaments in tennis. But for now, the Queen's cousin, 80-year-old Duke of Kent will be handing out prizes.

“They will let us know when the change happens. We will just be told. Until we hear otherwise I can only assume the Duke will hand out prizes as usual," Mail Online reported.

Aside from this, Middleton proved being the sportiest royal since she will also be joining Prince William and Prince Harry for the launching of the Heads Together campaign at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on May 16.
