Through our life experiences we know that when a product becomes famous it's bound to create some eyebrows and thus follow scams to demoralize the famous structure. Take the case of Airbnb, the Silicon Valley's second-highest-valued start-up for rent lodging boasting around 1,500,000 listings in 34,000 cities and 190 countries, because of its robust structure in offering value for money products a lot of people have been scammed when dealing on Airbnb.

1.        A couple got conned when they booked on the fake website of Airbnb. The couple have to shell out $3,800 to reserve the two apartments for their marriage. The look and feel of the website was almost similar to that of Airbnb but the couple were unable to identify the original website. Their fault was they wired transfer the money instead of paying through credit card.

2.        Airfarewatchdog.com reported about a person who rented his home in Oakland, Calif. to a young woman who in fact was a meth addict. She trashed her home and stole the owner's birth certificate. The owner has yet to get his birth certificate Airbnb.com was unable to do anything.

3.      After booking an apartment on Airbnb a California man was enjoying his rental in Berlin, when he was surprised to find the real owner asking as to what the guest was doing in his apartment without his permission, reported airfarewatchdog.com.

4.      According to matadornetwork.com a woman named Marie Lisa Jose and her friend Maria had to deal with a drug addict in the apartment booked through Airbnb. Both the women had to flee in the middle of the night as one of them was drugged on the pretext of drinking tomato juice.

5.      The website Trustpilot.com revealed that  a person was mesmerized to see the photos of the apartment he had booked on Airbnb but in reality it turned out to be dingy, dodgy, overpriced and uncomfortable place.

6.        A woman named Julie reported on trustpilot.com/review/www.airbnb.com how her guest trashed her house, broke dishes, glasses, left a blood-soaked towel, broke the handle off the shower.

7.  According to foxnews.com  a California woman had to shell out three times more what she'd agreed to pay when she booked a reasonably-priced rental in Austin, Texas while booking of Airbnb. She had to look out for an alternate accommodation when owner of the apartment did not agree to her request to charge what she had booked earlier.
