A teenager from Brisbane shrugs off criticism and gears up for her third attempt at becoming the youngest Australian to climb Mount Everest.

Alyssa Azar, 19 years of age, has tried twice at claiming the record-breaking bid. Unfortunately, her bid has been cancelled twice while already stationed at the mountain's base camp due to two different and life-threatening reasons.

The first cancellation of her bid was on 2014. The cause was the deadly avalanche that happened in April. The second cancellation was brought about by the devastating Nepal earthquake that also happened in the month of April this year.

Is she discouraged? Not even slight.

According to news reports, 'despite being snubbed by fellow climbers because of her youth, she is determined to make it to the top of the world's highest mountain'

Azar always know in herself that she would reach that peak. 'I always knew I would go back, I haven't hesitated. I have a love and a passion for it and it will be the greatest adventure,' the young teenager says.

Azar has already trekked through the Andes Mountains and has completed Mount Kilimanjaro. However, despite her achievements as a trekker/climber/mountaineer, she still encounters criticism because of her ambition. Brave as she is, she continues to move forward.

'There was a lot of resistance when I was younger but I never let it bother me. I still get it now, even from other climbers who don't think I take it seriously because I'm young and female. But as soon as they see me on the mountain they realise they're wrong. It just makes me work harder,' she shares.

As part of her training, Azar runs the long, sandy beaches of Queensland and climbs Mount Coot-tha for endurance training and the Blue Mountains in NSW for abseiling practice.

If Azar becomes lucky this time, she will be considered as the youngest-ever Australian to climb Mount Everest. The trek will commence in April. However, she will already be in Himalayas by the month of March.
