Lawyers who represented the family of clock kid demanded $15m in damages.

The lawyers of the Ahmed Mohamed, a 14-year old Muslim who was arrested for bringing to school a clock mistaken as a bomb, believed that the teenager deserved a total of $15m in damages. The lawyers requested $5m from the Irving MacArthur High School as well as $10m from city of Irving or they will file a civil lawsuit. They also requested a written apology from Mayor Beth Van Duyne and Police Chief Larry Boyd.

The lawyers believed that Mohamed's arrest and detention were unlawful and that the kid was illegally interrogated by the police without his parents around. The Mohamed family also made mention that top officials tried to cover up the embarrassing mistake by manipulating the media. This gave the family no choice but to leave the country because they have become target of hostilities, especially from anti-Muslim groups.

The school district and their corresponding lawyers said that they will respond accordingly once they are done reviewing the letter from Mohamed's lawyers. The city officials, on the other hand, were not available for response.

Ahmed, a student who had a knack for robotics, was arrested in September because he brought a device that was thought to be a bomb. During his interrogation, he was made to admit that his invention was a hoax bomb by the school officials. The high school student was also accused of violating school policies even though none of these can be attributed to bringing a clock to school. He was also said to be questioned without his parents present, even after he requested for them. When news about the kid went viral and the police dropped charges, officials attempted to cover up their mistake by devising a 'media campaign' against the boy.
