"A giant glory hole in the sky with what looks like a rainbow flag in it? OMG!", says one of the spectators of this rare phenomenon seen on Australia's sky last Wednesday. Behold, another incident that leaves people a lot of theories and assumptions, with one of them as an alien attack.

Big Mac Heart Attack, a Reddit user shared this image online, writing "spotted this rare phenomenon over eastern Victoria. Fallstreak holes, or hole punch clouds, form in clouds that contain supercooled water droplets - at a temperature below freezing point, but not frozen."

Amidst all the trolling of it being an alien attack, Spartan2470, another Reddit aficionado replied to Big Mac's post, "Such holes are formed when the water temperature in the clouds is below freezing but the water has not frozen yet due to the lack of ice nucleation."

"It is believed that the introduction of large numbers of tiny ice crystals into the cloud layer sets off this domino effect of evaporation which creates the hole. The ice crystals can be formed by passing aircraft which often have a large reduction in pressure behind the wing- or propeller-tips. This cools the air very quickly, and can produce a ribbon of ice crystals trailing in the aircraft's wake. These ice crystals find themselves surrounded by droplets, grow quickly by the Bergeron process, causing the droplets to evaporate and creating a hole with brush-like streaks of ice crystals below it."

This bizarre sight was captured and shared into multiple different social media platforms, particularly, Twitter. Some were really serious about its methodological explanation while others were just making fun of it.

UFO strike, magical elves and leprechauns, global warming, whatever this 'cloud hole' may really be, this event still treated Australians with some peculiar yet cool sight.
