David Letterman's net worth is at a whopping $400 million, so it's obvious that he's happily retiring after being a late night talk show host for more than two decades. Interestingly, apart from leaving a legacy to national TV, the 68-year-old comedian is also leaving behind his fellow late night show hosts by stealing the top spot for the richest late night show hosts.

The 'Late Show with David Letterman' aired its very first episode on Aug. 30, 1993. Unbeknownst to the young David back then, he will actually emerge as one of the most popular late night show hosts and amass a $400 million wealth.

According to The Richest, Letterman primarily earned his $400 million net worth through his own hit talk show on CBS.

Additionally, Letterman is earning the big bucks from 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson' and from the reruns of 'The King of Queens' and 'Everybody Loves Raymond.'

Aside from his earnings from the entertainment industry, David Letterman's net worth also flourished all thanks to his real estate mogul status.

Letterman owns a 108-acre estate in Westchester County, New York, a 2,700-acre ranch near Chateau, Montana, and he also co-owns Rahal Letterman Racing, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Despite his obvious stable wealth, David Letterman became a target of several speculations after he announced in April last year that he is retiring this 2015.

Some speculations claim Letterman's net worth was plummeting in the recent years that's why he has decided to stop the show in order for him to focus on his real estate. However, these rumors ended nowhere because Letterman does not actually have any financial and or spending problems.

Tomorrow is David Letterman's final episode, and fans couldn't help but wonder what he's planning on doing post-retirement.

TMZ reports Letterman could be spending a very merry retirement after porn site GameLink offered him free access to its vast online stash of adult content.

GameLink claims it's their way of saying thank you to Letterman for the many laughs and the entertainment he has graced national television for so many years.

However, Letterman has yet to comment on GameLink's offer.
