Safaree Samuels is missing ex-girlfriend and "Anaconda" rapper Nicki Minaj. This week, he decided to break his silence and reveal the real reason behind their split.

Since their public breakup last year, Samuels has always been very vocal about his intact feelings for his ex. He even tweets about Minaj and rapped about the songwriter in one of his songs.

Just recently, Safaree gushed about his breakup from Minaj in his interview with VladTV.

Based on his statements, it appears that Minaj was against Samuels' decision to pursue a career in rapping.

Samuels admitted he wanted to be a rapper, but Minaj didn't want him to since she does not want him to be exposed to the limelight and a number of women.

Samuels said, "She just wanted the focus to just be the way it was. Ain't no female who's with someone gonna want their man to be put in the forefront when they weren't in the forefront the whole time."

He then added, "And then it's going to be like 'okay, now I got to worry about girls throwing themselves at him.' I grew up around all women and that's a big part of it."

Samuels also gushed about Nicki's interview with Power 105.1 where she ended up sobbing while admitting that she's missing Safaree.

Samuels admitted that he only saw bits of the interview because it was very difficult for him to watch.

"I'm not saying I want that back," Samuels added. "I'm not saying that would be the best thing to do. I just know how talented I am and everybody else is about to find that out too ... So it would have been [nice if she was still around]."

Samuels' words come amid rumors that he has moved on from Nicki Minaj and is allegedly dating K. Michelle.
