Breastfed baby has higher IQ according to the latest study. If you're hoping to get your child a better future, then start breastfeeding. The said research was done in Brazil which involved more than 3,500 babies who ranged from all walks of life.

The study was done on a group of more than 5,000 mothers whose children were born in 1982. This continued on for the next 30 years where 3,493 of the babies who turned into adults over the course of the study were continuously examined and evaluated.

According to experts, the breastfed baby has higher IQ if exclusively breastfed for six months. Of course, this would all depend on the mother, who may or not be able to provide the breast milk needed by their child.

"PHE's advice remains that exclusive breastfeeding for around the first six months of life provides health benefits to babies," says national director of health and wellbeing in Public Health England, Kevin Fenton. "We recognise however, that not all mothers choose, or are able, to breastfeed and infant formula is the only alternative to breast milk for babies under 12 months old."

With regards to the study of breastfed baby having higher IQ, the chairman of Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health's nutrition Dr. Colin Michie has quite a lot to say. For him, the validity of breastfeeding linked to IQ over the years has always been challenged.

"It is important to note that breastfeeding is one of many factors that can contribute to a child's outcomes, however this study emphasises the need for continued and enhanced breastfeeding promotion so expectant mothers are aware of the benefits of breastfeeding," states Dr. Michie.

In addition to breastfed baby having higher IQ, the study also claims they are most likely to become well-educated in the future. They may also turn into successful adults who earn more than those who had not been breastfed. Prolonged breastfeeding is said to increase intelligence until the age of 30. It also has an impact on the individual's societal level.
