The summer has given a new reason for the people of Chicago to celebrate. Friends of Holstein Park announced the centenary celebration of the historic Holstein Park to be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 30.

Holstein Park was named after a number of laborers and craftsmen from Schleswig - Holstein, a region of Germany, got shifted to this place as migrant residents.

For the first time in 1912, this historic field house was opened for public and very soon it joined the former playing fields and public pool. After a few years, the park turned into a unified Chicago Park district in 1934.

The whole day celebrations will take place on the park ground adjacent to the historic field house and surrounding streets. A lot of activities are planned which are planned in the children's play space.

The entire event is a fundraiser for the rehabilitation plan of the historic Holstein Park field house that is celebrating 100 years of continuous service to the community.

The event is presented by TimeOut Chicago and partly sponsored by Friends of Holstein Park, AldermanScott Waguespack, Goose Island Beer Company, American Eagle Bank, Printwell, Siragusa Group, Cat and Mouse and the Chicago Park District.
