"Mortal Kombat X" release date has finally been revealed. The game is set to hit shelves by April 14. For those itching to get their hands on the game, here's everything to know about it and when to start heading out to stores to grab the game.

Aside from revealing the "Mortal Kombat X" release date, a few spoilers for the highly anticipated game have gone viral. First off, fans of the game will be delighted to know that it features a lot of downloadable content (DLC). This basically means more arenas, more characters, and not to mention a lot of hidden features that were not featured in earlier versions of the video game.

Rumors have pointed out that the extra character would probably be characters in the film, "Predator." LazyGamer reports that CIA agent Colonel Al Dillion and the Predator could be included in the game as DLC. While the "Mortal Kombat X" release date has been confirmed, the rumor about the "Predator" DLC characters has yet to be confirmed. This all started back in July after Ed Boon, the creator of Mortal Kombat re-tweeted a photo of Predator and Scorpion face to face.

Aside from Predator, other DLC characters rumored to make it into the game could be Spawn. Todd McFarlane, the creator of Spawn, said the idea could be a possibility but he failed to confirm if it indeed was placed into the game after the "Mortal Kombat X" release date was confirmed.

This is not the first time that DLC characters outside the world of Mortal Kombat have made it into the game. Fans may recall that Freddy Krueger of "Nightmare from Elm Street" along with Kratos of "God of War" made appearances in the game.

"Mortal Kombat X" release date is on April 14, which will be available in a variety of platforms such as the Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and on the PC. Pre-orders for the game have already started on Amazon.
