Empire season 1 is returning with episode 8 this week and it appears that the Lyons are going to face more challenging issues when the show airs tonight. Previously on Empire, Lucious and Cookie hooked up amid the former's confession about his serious health problem. Fans also saw Hakeem's girlfriend demanding more from Cookie, who brushes it off with a sassy diss moment by referring to her as "Yoko Ono." The rather ambitious Andre was quite stunned by his father's news while Jamal learned that he has a daughter. Given all the things that happened last week, the consequences will surely make fans crave for more. Andre is plotting ways to turn the tables for him while Jamal has "news that surprises everyone." While it's not clear yet if Jamal's surprising news is his coming out, it has already been confirmed that he is moving on from his breakup with his lover. After Michael, he has his eye on his father's documentary filmmaker Ryan. In a sneak peek to the upcoming episode, Ryan could be seen asking Jamal out for a drink and obviously things will get steamy from there. "Honestly, if you really want to keep your job, you should not let my dad find out about how you are," Jamal even warns Ryan, who quickly responds with: "Thanks, but your dad is lucky to have me doing his little vanity doc, so if he has a problem with me, then he can kiss my a-."

Another thing to watch out for in Empire season 1 episode 8 is the get together of Cookie and Lucious' family when they decide to record a legacy album. Hakeem and Jamal will be joined by their parents at the studio, making the ambitious alpha Andre jealous. Elsewhere, Anita will confront Lucious when she finds out about his alone time with Cookie.
