Chapel Hill Shooting - The Muslim society mourns the death of three young hopeful Muslims shot to death in Chapel Hill early today. It has already been dubbed as a hate crime committed by an atheist identified Craig Stephen Hicks. Early reports claim Hicks had shot three of the young Muslims due to a fight over parking space, but was this truly the reason to end their lives?

In a quiet neighborhood in North Carolina, officers were called to the area at around 5 in the morning to report gunshot sounds. Neighbors didn't know of the incident until cops pulled out the bodies of three young Muslims. They were shot in the head by their 46-year old neighbor, Stephen Hicks. Investigation on the Chapel Hill shooting suggest it was "motivated by an ongoing neighbor dispute over parking."

However, the Muslim society and all those who shared the post on social media sites believe otherwise. The Chapel Hill shooting was obviously a hate crime. The national executive director of the Council of American-Islamic Relations, Nihad Awad, thinks this as well.

"Based on the brutal nature of this crime, the past anti-religion statements of the alleged perpetrator, the religious attire of the two victims, and the rising anti-Muslim rhetoric in American society, we urge state and federal law enforcement authorities to quickly address speculation of a possible bias motive in this case," says Awad in a report by the New York Times.

With regards to the Chapel Hill shooting, support has poured in for the families of the victims. A Facebook page has been set up in memory of the young Muslims. It has been called "Our Three Winners."

"Please rely on each other and remember these beautiful souls in your happy thoughts. Their faith meant a lot to them, and it is in fact what helps us all feel at peace with the tragedy of their murder," reads an update with regards to the Chapel Hill shooting.
