CNN reports that a passenger plane carrying 58 people dove into the Keelung River after hitting a bridge in Taiwan on Wednesday at 11 a.m. (local time 10 p.m.). The current toll is 25 people confirmed dead, 15 injured, and 18 people still missing.

Sources addressed that the ATR 72 TransAsia aircraft went down shortly after takeoff from Taipei, Taiwan. The plane was in route to Kinmen, China when it lost control. The plane's wing clipped a passing taxi on the Nanhu Bridge as the wing touched down onto the bridge. The two people in the taxi survived and are in stable condition after being taken to the hospital.

Taiwans's Civil Aeronautics Administration claims that they do not know what caused the plane to crash. The ATR 72 aircraft was less than a year old and underwent a safety check on January 26th.

The CEO of TransAsia Airways, Chen Xinde, sent out a formal apology to the victims and crew of this crash. The flight manifest concluded that all passengers were Chinese and Taiwanese, including four children.

Hopefully more information will be revealed soon about the remaining 18 individuals who are still considered missing and why the plane lost control. Also, that all of the people sent to the hospital with injuries will recover fully.
