Microsoft's announcement about their upcoming Windows OS has caused a stir on PC users. The thrill increases with the company finally setting a date to discuss the anticipated OS version.

The company behind Windows has announced an organized event, where they will provide details for the "next chapter" of Windows 10, PC World reported.

Microsoft introduced Windows 10 at the end of September this year and recently, the corporation has finally set a date to further discuss the new features of the latest OS update. The company will hold a webcast featured in their blogging site and a live event in Redmond, Washington campus on Jan. 21, 2015 for the discussion. Chief executive Satya Nadella, along with the senior executives in Microsoft's Operating Systems division, which include Terry Myerson, Joe Belfiore and Phil Spencer, will detail the new operating system.

Myerson, who is the executive vice president of the Operating System group, has stated in the introduction of Windows 10 in September that the interface of the new OS will be "familiar" to Windows 7 and Windows 8 users.

"They will find all the tools they're used to finding, with all the apps and tools they're used to today," he said.

As a matter of fact, the company has revealed that the Start menu from Windows 7 is back with a new customizable space for apps and Live Tiles. The applications from Windows Store will be displayed the same way the desktop apps are shown. They can also be resized, moved around, maximized, minimized and closed with a click.

Windows 10 will also feature a quadrant layout, where users can "snap" four apps on the same screen. The OS will also make smart suggestions on filling unused screen space when other programs are running.

The user is also capable of creating desktops for different purposes. Furthermore, a new task view button has been integrated in the system, which allows quick switching between open files and provides easy access to any desktops the user has created.

The File Explorer has also been improved to display recent files and frequently visited folders, which makes file-finding simpler.

Meanwhile, many users anticipate the Cortana feature in Windows 10. Although Microsoft hasn't confirmed the inclusion of the intelligent personal assistant, Windows 10 leaks has shown Cortana working in the operating system, according to The Verge.
