An Army vet was shot and killed during his homecoming celebration in Sylmar, Los Angeles, just about before2 A.M. of Sunday.

The victim of the said tragic incident was identified as the 21 year-old Francisco Garcia who was actually celebrating his return from Afghanistan in his girlfriend's house. According to the Sylmar Police Department, the victim's girlfriend threw a party in her house at Dronfield Street on Saturday evening to celebrate for her boyfriend's arrival; however, things began to change when the party moved in a different location around 2 A.M.

While the police are still investigating the current case particularly the real motive of the shooter, they revealed that the Army vet was standing on the sidewalk when two cars stopped. According to CBS Los Angeles, a man exited a dark SUV and smashed a bottle of beer while yelling at Garcia. After that, the man then rushed to the second vehicle wherein he retrieved a handgun and then suddenly shot the homecoming victim.

Police says that the victim instantly died in the scene while there are no other injuries noted. Members of the authority also believes that the Army vet is really the target of the attack and that learning more about the alleged dispute that happened over the night would point to the one who shot him in the said homecoming.

"Apparently, a simmering dispute had boiled over during the night, and this suspect came looking for Francisco. Figuring out the dispute should lead us to the shooter." Lt. Paul Vernon, commanding officer of the Mission Detective Division said.

Investigators are still trying to figure out the real motive since everything is still unclear while they also believed that the suspects were not actually at the party that night and that they came from a different location. Before being shot in the homecoming, the Army vet is reportedly supposed to join the California Highway Patrol after being accepted in the CHP Academy.
