The Cleveland Cavaliers have apparently given up in their pursuit of veteran sharpshooter Ray Allen, while Kevin Durant has made known that it would come down between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Washington Wizards as his potential free-agency destination in 2016.

No Allen with the Cavs: Considered as the biggest free-agent left in the market, the 39-year old Allen's chance of playing with former Miami Heat teammate LeBron James in Cleveland diminished after the Cavs filled the remaining slot on their 15-man roster by signing point guard Will Cherry, according to Fox Sports Ohio NBA insider Sam Amico.

"Cavs will indeed sign player within next day or two after waiving AJ Price. But move not related to Ray Allen," said Amico, who has been following the story about the Cavs' pursuit of the best shooter in the history of the NBA.

With this development, it seems the Cavaliers have already gone tired of waiting when Allen will decide on his future and instead they used the remaining slot to add more depth at the point guard position.

Mark Cuban of the Dallas Mavericks claimed that his team is always open to get the service of Allen, believing the marksman can surely help improve his team's chance of competing for the championship.

"We haven't talked to him, but I think he's doing it the right way," owner Mark Cuban said of Allen in an interview with Dallas News writer Eddie Safko. "He's waiting to see who's doing well. If it comes down to it, we'd always consider it. We're always open to improving the team. But you don't want to mess up a good thing, either.

Aside from the Mavs, the San Antonio Spurs and the Washington Wizards have also expressed interest in acquiring Allen, who is capable of providing long range shooting and big shots in crucial situations.

Down To Thunder and Wizards: For Kevin Durant, there are only two teams that have real shot at him when he becomes the free-agent in 2016: the OKC Thunder and the Washington Wizards.

According to Zach Lowe of Grantland, a source close to situation told him that Durant will seriously consider Wizards other than his current team when it all come down to free-agency two years from now.

"The Texas teams will take their shot if they hear the right intel, and Durant's hometown Wizards are biding their time in the easier conference. That intel is all over the place, by the way. Some teams are optimistic it will be open season, and others have heard rumblings that Durant has already made it known it will come down to the Thunder and Wizards. Nobody really knows," as reported by Lowe.
