Sir Nicholas Winton Czech honor - At the age of 105, Sir Nicholas Winton of the United Kingdom managed to receive the highest honor from Czech Republic. The 105-year old former stockbroker had been presented with the Order of the White Lion for having saved over 650 refugees from the Nazis.

Czech president Milos Zeman had presented Sir Nicholas Winton Czech honor at a ceremony that took place at the Prague Castle. The act of Winton was described as an "example of humanity, selflessness, personal courage and modesty."

"Thank you all for this enormous expression of thanks for something which happened to me nearly 100 years ago - and 100 years is a heck of a long time," stated Winton in a speech, adding, "I am delighted that so many of the children are still here to thank me."

Winton was only 29-years old when he had saved over 650 refugees in the Nazi-populated Prague. He had arranged for trains that sent out the children from Czechoslovakia to London. The British man had also arranged for foster families to care for the children. Thus, he had been named "Britain's Schindler." This selfless act awarded Sir Nicholas Winton Czech honor.

Before Sir Nicholas Winton Czech honor was awarded, he had been knighted in the March of 2003 by the Queen. A year before the knighting, Winton had been reunited with the children he had saved in the year 1939.

Sir Nicholas Winton Czech honor would not have been awarded if not for his wife, who had found out about Winton's selfless actions in the year 1988. President Zeman claimed Sir Nicholas Winton Czech honor had been given late but was "better late than never."

In addition to Sir Nicholas Winton Czech honor, another Czech award had been given which was the Tomas Garrigue Masaryk Order in the year 1998. This was awarded to Winton by then President Vaclav Havel.
