Ebola NYC patient, Dr. Craig Spencer is reportedly in the next stage of the Ebola virus. Spencer is now in the serious phase of the disease which now involves gastrointestinal symptoms. Despite the severity of his illness, the Ebola NYC patient has already received a blood transfusion from one Ebola survivor.

New York City's spokeswoman for the public hospital system, Ana Marengo, has given citizens an update on Spencer. Spencer is the first Ebola NYC patient currently under isolation at the Bellevue Hospital. According to Marengo, Spencer is "entering the next and more serious phase of his illness, as anticipated with the appearance of gastrointestinal symptoms."

The Ebola NYC patient is currently on his third day of isolation after having been brought to the hospital Thursday with a 100.4 degrees fever. In spite of the seriousness of his condition, Spencer is reportedly communicative and awake. Spencer's girlfriend, Morgan Dixon, is also under observation and isolation. Dixon is in quarantine at her apartment located in West 147th street.

Two other people who have been in contact with the Ebola NYC patient are under quarantine. The Centers for Disease Control are currently tracking down other people who have been in close contact with the Ebola NYC patient.

Another update on the Ebola NYC patient involves a blood transfusion from an Ebola survivor. Nancy Writebol, a survivor of the Ebola disease, had given a plasma transfusion to Spencer. Blood transfusions from Ebola survivors claim to have helped the recovery of Ebola infected individuals.

"I am praying for Dr. Spencer's recovery and am happy to be able to donate blood," stated Writebol.

Other than the Ebola NYC patient who has received a blood transfusion from the Ebola survivor, two other individuals have received the same treatment. These would be Dr. Rick Sacra and Ashoka Mukpo.
