New York City officials identify first man infected with Ebola in the densely-populated city on Thursday.

Latest updates about the deadly disease reveals that another health care worker has been infected with the virus. According to the reports, the newest patient who recently tested positive for the infection was identified as Dr. Craig Allen Spencer who just arrived in the country on October 17 from Guinea, one of the West African countries badly hit by the outbreak. The infected health care professional has been working with the medical aid group Doctors without Borders in the said African country.

The news about the man confirmed to be the latest carrier of Ebola virus becomes very alarming since NYC is the very populous city in the entire United States; thus, the risk of spreading the infection is definitely inevitable. Although most of the population already fears that the virus may spread further, the city officials seem to be confident that they have reassured the public that there is no reason to be alarmed with the recent news. Officials are currently monitoring one of the three persons known to have had contact with the infected doctor while also trying to trace other potential contacts after it was known that he traveled on the subway and went bowling before showing signs of the illness.

The 33 year-old man is currently placed in isolation at Bellevue Hospital Center in Manhattan. According to other reports, the Ebola infected doctor called 911 on Thursday morning after showing signs of an elevated temperature. After informing NYC's Doctors Without Borders office, officials coming from the EMS and Fire Department came into Spencer's apartment wearing their protective equipment.

For precautionary measures, NYC officials closed the bowling alley in Williamsburg as health workers will visit the area. U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that they will perform more tests to confirm the man's case diagnosed with Ebola.
