Man Faked Coma For Two Years - An impossibly surprising incident occurred in Wales when a 47-year-old British man got away with having police think he had a coma for two years. Apparently, he pretended he is quadriplegic, which meant that he can fall into a coma after becoming extremely sick.

It was surprising that the con artist was able to pull off his stunt for so long, but what's even more shocking is how the police found out about his act. Police were able to track him through his supermarket loyalty card.

The incident where the man faked coma for two years was pulled off by Alan Knight of Swansea, Wales. According to prosecutors, Wales has been stealing from an elderly neighbor's bank account for around three years. The neighbour didn't seem to notice because of Alzheimer's disease.

Police started to investigate and found out that the stolen money already amounted to over 40,000 pounds - about $65,000 - when police caught him, reports the Associated Press.

Apparently, the man faked coma for two years since he wanted to avoid going to court and getting prosecuted. He told police he injured his spine in a garage door accident, causing his quadriplegia, which paralyzed him from the neck down. He also said his seizures would occasionally put him under a coma, reported Gawker.

He even went so far as to check himself into a hospital, thus avoiding having to appear in court. He simply said that he was having seizures.

On Wednesday, the South Wales Evening Post reported that Knight's wife, Helen, had written to p saying her husband had obtained a doctor's letter to certify he was "quadriplegic and in a comatose condition, bed-bound at home" after a neck injury.

"We've been through absolute hell and we're still going through hell," wrote Helen.

However, the British fraudster got caught by police faking his coma after they saw him on CCTV footage driving and strolling around supermarkets. Police found out that the man faked coma for two years when they tracked his supermarket card record, which revealed footage from a surveillance camera.

The footage was shown on court of Knight surveillance camera, appearing quite un-paralyzed and very-much-awake. His doctors also suspected that something was wrong their coma started "eating, wiping his face and even writing."

After the man faked coma for two years, he was warned that the trial would still resume despite his absence. On Tuesday, Knight had no choice anymore but to appear at the Swansea Crown Court, but in a wheelchair and neck brace.

Police eventually revealed their evidence to the court and Knight reportedly pleaded guilty to 19 counts of forgery, fraud and theft.

He is "a very accomplished and determined actor ... and the conditions he claims to be suffering from are simply nonexistent," said Judge Paul Thomas said Knight.

"His illnesses coincide with impending court appearances. I do not believe the symptoms are genuine," the judge added.

Helen, who allowed the incident where the man faked coma for two years, has not been charged with an offense despite keeping up with the charade by "caring" for Knight at the hospital and pushing him on a wheelchair on his way to court.

The incident where man faked coma for two years apparently isn't the only misdemeanour Knight had committed. According to Jim Davis, prosecuting, who did not open the case, Knight is kind of an asshole since he also made a "totally false" attempt to blame his own son for the offences. The 47-year-old is set to be sentenced Nov. 7.
