China blocks BBC News as the foreign news agency is allegedly sending out inaccurate reports about the rising tension in Hong Kong. As for BBC News, the broadcast center has accused China of deliberate censorship. How exactly has China blocked BBC News?

With the rising tension in Hong Kong, a number of foreign broadcast news centers across the globe have continuously been reporting on the incidents involving the protests. BBC News is one of the foreign news centers covering the Hong Kong protests but according to China their reports have not been objective. Thus, China blocked BBC News.

Reacting to China blocking BBC News, Peter Horrocks, BBC Global News director has spoken up on the matter. According to Horrocks, China has deliberately censored the news streaming from BBC News.

"The BBC strongly condemns any attempts to restrict free access to news and information and we are protesting to the Chinese authorities. This appears to be deliberate censorship," stated Horrocks, adding, "The BBC provides impartial, trusted news to millions of people around the world, and attempts to censor our news services show just how important it is to get our accurate information to them."

Exactly how has China blocked BBC News? BBC reporter, Celia Hatton, stated the channel had been blacked out. Both BBC World and global TV news had been blacked out by China.

This is not the first incident where China blocked BBC News. Back in the year 2010, China had again blocked BBC News for a number of days. The black-out coincided with the ceremony for the Nobel Peace Prize which was awarded to Chinese rebel, Liu Xiabo.

On the news on China blocks BBC News, the country has continued to block the foreign media channel with the protests still on going in Hong Kong. China had demanded that foreign journalists report accurately.
