Hong Kong harbor is one of the city's tourist attractions given its panoramic and breath-taking views. However, such attraction may be marred by the current protests taking place near the Hong Kong harbor. Protesters fighting for democracy have spread to the new site across the harbor.

Named by Time as one of the most orderly and dynamic cities, Hong Kong has now become a war zone between its government and citizens. The protests that took place in the streets of the city have now moved across the Hong Kong harbor.

Early Monday morning, police officers had tried to keep the peace by throwing out tear gas at protesters downtown. Ironically, this did not produce the desired effect instead even more people joined in on the protest. The protests, now nearing violent, have already made it across the popular shopping joint in Hong Kong's harbor, Kowloon. The protests demand that Hong Kong have full democracy starting off with the election of its own Chief Executive by the year 2017.

Apart from the protests that took place at the Hong Kong harbor, a number of protesters have made it to the Mongkok district. Traffic is at a standstill with police hurling pepper spray and tear gas at the protesters.

With the situation going dire in Hong Kong, tourism will most likely be affected. With protests already sprouting in the Mongkok shopping districts and Causeway Bay, tourists will think twice before heading out to Hong Kong.

"The markets were not counting on anything extreme to happen. Whether it immediately moves or not, implied volatilities will rise in Hong Kong given this additional uncertainty," stated Govert Heijboer, True Partner Advisor Lts. Chief Investment Officer in report by Business Week.

Right now, the Hong Kong harbor is one of the least places to visit in the country with all the protests around.
