TB or Tuberculosis has been recently detected from a Texas hospital employee making many individuals including babies predisposed to the said contagious disease.

New report claims that there could be more than 700 infants who already have the possibility of contacting the said disease after it was revealed that a worker of the known health care institution has been diagnosed with the said condition. The employee who is actually working on the nursery unit happened to be diagnosed with the condition after being tested positive last August 25. With the recent diagnosis made, it was also discovered that a huge population of infants could also have the potential of acquiring the disease.

Although the diseased employee is already place on leave, there is still the huge tendency that other workers could also have the TB diagnosis especially those whom the affected person has been closely working with. The health condition of up to 700 infants are also placed in jeopardy particularly those who were at the said Texas hospital from September 2013 up to now. The possibility of contacting the bacteria is very high since its transmission happens through air and spreads when an affected person coughs or sneezes.

Health authorities of Texas are also trying to investigate the individuals at risk. While the hospital employees are being screened for TB, they also conducted an investigation by first sending letters to parents of those exposed infants. Parents of those infants are being directed to have their babies undergo a thorough screening at the institution for free.

Although a large number of infants plus the more than 40 hospital workers are currently predisposed to acquiring TB, it is still believed that the current health situation does not impose a grave threat to the population of Texas. Authorities did not reveal how did the particular employee cojntacted the contagious disease.
