Following the increasing number of inmate deaths, four state Florida prisons fire guards. Exactly 32 guards were fired last Friday afternoon after having been accused of misconduct with regards to the deaths of inmates. Were the guards indirectly responsible for the increasing inmate death count?

Florida prisons fire guards after the increasing death count of inmates. In relation to the death, The Herald had published a story on Florida prisons fire guards claiming the guards involved were somewhat involved in corruption and brutality within the jail system.

Out of the 32 incident of Florida prisons fire guards, 18 of the guards who had been fired by Secretary Michael Crews have reportedly been responsible for the death of one inmate named Matthew Walker. Walker, aged 55, was currently at the Charlotte Correctional Institution dated April 11. Investigation of Walker's death had reportedly been an "inappropriate use of force."

As for the other 5 left off the 32 Florida prisons fire guards, Union Correctional had stated these guards were responsible for the death of one inmate named, Rudolf Rowe back in August 12, 2012. Excessive force used by the five prison guards was claimed to be the cause for Rowe's death.

The incident of 32 Florida prisons fire guards have stemmed from four different state prisons. Investigations leading to the firing had dated back to the death of an inmate back in 2012 named Darren Rainey. Attorney General Eric Holder had called for an investigation following Rainey's death claiming the state prison had gone attempts of covering up the inmate's death.

"These revelations that are coming out are not about incompetence. They're about guards killing people and public officials working feverishly to cover it up," stated Howard Simon, Florida's ACLU executive director.

In summary, the inmates who had died in Florida prisons include Rudolf Rowe, Darren Rainey, Matthew Walker and Randall Jordan-Aparo.
