The very first Legoland to be made in Dubai is revealed to be a part of a huge and costly new tourism complex in the Middle East.

The project handled by Meraas Holdings is also supported by Dubai ruler Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. According to the Telegraph, the project called the Dubai Parks and Resorts project that will also have the Bollywood theme park, is set to add up to the current list of the emirate's tourist spots.

The overall plan is to boost their annual visitors up to 20 million when 2020 arrives. This means double their existing stat of 10 million two years ago. This will make them even ahead of London for the title, the most visited city in the world.

The Legoland Dubai is the seventh around the world but the first for the Middle East region. It targets kids from 2 to 12 years old. The concept for the Legoland Dubai was previously planned to be called the Dubailand but was shelved in the meantime due to the 2008 economic crisis in the region.

It sent property prices down which pushed the emirate to get the emergency aid packages from its neighbor, Abu Dhabi.

The plans involve a retail and dining square right at the complex situated in Jebel Ali. The area is popular for being the host of the biggest seaport of the region.

USA Today adds that tourism plays a huge role in the economy of Dubai that is primarily dependent on trade and transportation.

It was last year when Dubai officials announced their plans in building a $1.6 billion island development that would feature the biggest Ferris wheel in the world. Not to mention a $7.3 million park that pays tribute to the Quran.
