Jada Pinkett Smith has given a few hints on how she and her famous actor husband, Will Smith, was able to keep their marriage happy. According to the 42-year-old "Gotham" star, the key to their happy marriage is friendship. She said during an interview with Extra TV, "Your partner has to be your best, best, friend. And he's my best friend."

Jada Pinkett Smith continued by explaining on how she kept their union stable. She commented, "You have to have kind of a warrior mentality. You have to be a soldier for love. You have to be able to withstand tough times and just because the tough times come doesn't mean it's time to stop. It means it's time to dig in."

Since Jada Pinkett Smith married her husband, she has always been quite open with the goings-on in their relationship. In the recent years, though, she made better use of her Facebook account so that she can let the world know that there are more important things to focus on than the strength about her union with her husband.

She wrote, "Let me first say this, there are far more important things to talk about in regards to what is happening in the world than whether I have an open marriage or not. I am addressing this issue because a very important subject has been born from discussions about my statement that may be worthy of addressing."

Jada Pinkett Smith was referring to some rumors that she apparently gave her handsome husband the freedom to do whatever it is that he wants to do. She further wrote, "I think because from how I've answered questions of 'Girl, you know what would you do if he came home and this and that?' or 'Being married to a big superstar like Will, how do you deal with other women?' And, I've always told Will, 'You can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be okay.'"
