Shakira's Facebook page became the first to garner 100 million likes after the Colombian singer made an appearance during the World Cup series.

'The Voice' former judge just proved to any other celebrities that she definitely soar above the rest as one of her social media accounts received 100 million likes which beat out other stars such as Rihanna and Eminem who had 89 million and 91.9 million likes already. It is believed that the singer's part during this year's World Cup has been a great factor for her to achieve more fame in the said social media. It can be recalled that she performed her World Cup-themed La la la (Brazil 2014) during the closing ceremony on July 13 with Brazilian star Carlinhos Brown.

Aside from the singer's participation in the said event, it was also said that her active participation in the social media has made her soar even more. The singer also shared several photos of her during the event while she also posted some videos and photos with her son Milan and boyfriend Gerard Pique at their home. After receiving 100 million likes for her Facebook page, Shakira shared that she was 'honored and humbled' to reach such milestone.

"Social media and specifically Facebook has helped myself and other artists bridge the gap between the stage and the audience," she said.

Facebook founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg also said his congratulations to the singer as she receives more international fame in the said social media site. "Congrats! What an amazing milestone for an amazing person," he wrote.

It is not actually the first time that Shakira's Facebook page received millions of likes as she already previously received 50 million likes surpassing other celebrities' brand page making her have the most popular celebrity page in the social media site.
