Almaty, Beijing, Oslo for 2022 Winter Olympics list of cities has been announced recently. Almaty, Beijing, Oslo for 2022 Winter Olympics was announced by the IOC as potential hosts since Stockholm, Krakow and Lviv have reportedly been pulled out of process.

Left with little choice after the withdrawal of three contenders, the International Olympic Committee retained the three remaining cities Monday in the troubled race for the 2022 Winter Games.

According to The Guardian, Kazakhstan also made the list of finalists, as was expected.

Almaty, Beijing, Oslo for 2022 Winter Olympics was confirmed by the International Olympic Committee as making the list of the official candidates to host the monumental event. The executive board of the IOC reportedly made the list of the candidate cities and sent them towards the final stage of the campaign, as opposed to cutting them further.

IOC president Thomas Bach said of finalizing Almaty, Beijing, Oslo for 2022 Winter Olympics, 'The IOC executive board has selected the cities of Oslo, Almaty and Beijing as candidate cities for the Olympic Winter Games 2022.'

He added, 'The IOC is very happy to see three very different approaches with regard to the organisation of the games. This gives the IOC a choice between three diverse bids, with different legacy plans, with different approaches, with different budgets.'

According to the Associated Press, since Almaty, Beijing, Oslo for 2022 Winter Olympics has already been decided; the cities should surrender their detailed bid files to the IOC by January next year. Afterwards, the host city will reportedly be selected by the full IOC membership in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Jul. 31, 2015.

Before the decision on Almaty, Beijing, Oslo for 2022 Winter Olympics, USA Today reports that the bid race began with six cities. However, the six became three after Stockholm, Krakow, Poland and Lviv, Ukraine withdrew.

The AP reports that before the decision on Almaty, Beijing, Oslo for 2022 Winter Olympics, Lviv dropped out from the list the week before since political turmoil in Ukraine has continued. Meanwhile, Krakow reportedly withdrew from the list in May since Polish voters rejected the bid by a 70 percent margin. In January, Stockholm withdrew when Swedish politicians allegedly said no to providing the bid financial backing.

In addition to these withdrawals, before the decision on Almaty, Beijing, Oslo for 2022 Winter Olympics, potential bids from Switzerland and Germany have been abandoned before official campaigns because voters did not agree to the referendums.

The decision of Almaty, Beijing, Oslo for 2022 Winter Olympics has been made, but even as Oslo is included in the list and despite having hosted the 1952 Winter Games, its candidacy still remains uncertain. According to reports, the government of Norway still hasn't backed the project and they also have yet to make a decision by November. Polls have also reportedly shown that more than half of the population already is in opposition of the bid.

Almaty, Beijing, Oslo for 2022 Winter Olympics has been set, but despite the decision, the 2022 race reportedly is a serious challenge for the IOC and new President Thomas Bach to find willing cities to host. He stated that continuous changes to the bidding process and efforts to reduce the cost of the games are amongst the main problems being addressed by the IOC as part of Bach's "Agenda 2020," his alleged roadmap for the Olympic movement's future, which will be voted on in December.
