Some people prefer the mountains, others the beach. Vacation in Pulau Langkawi and enjoy both!

Pulau Langkawi is one of 104 islands that make up the archipelago Langkawi, which is nestled in Kedah, one of Malaysia's thirteen states. Known as the Jewel of Kedah, Langkawi is famous for her ethereal beauty. Pulau Langkawi, easily the largest of the islands, has plenty to offer any restless or adventurous traveler.

Huts sitting right on the beach offer quick access to the water as well as intimate views of the Andaman Sea. Some even sit right above the water on wooden stakes. With the blue waves in front and the forest behind, there are always new areas to explore.

Covered by vibrant and unadulterated nature, the island's lush forests offer a place of repose for some and discovery for others. Truly the centerpiece of Pulau Langkawi, the endless miles of nature are best experienced from above.

Make your way over to the Burau Bay Resort to ride the cable car. Opened in 2003, these gondolas offer breathtaking views of Pulau Langkawi. Journeying to the peak of Gunung Machinchang, these cable cars accommodate six people each while they ascend over 2,000 feet during the 1.4 mile ride.

Upon exiting the gondola, step onto the Sky Bridge. Casually stroll through thin air on this 410-foot long bridge suspended by cables. Warning for the faint of heart: do not look down if you are afraid of heights, 2300 feet is a quite a long way up!

Besides these unique amenities, the island is home to plenty of local stores, villas, beaches and resorts. Feel free to befriend a local and ask for a tour of their humble villa. Hop over to nearby Kuala Lumpor to see the Petronas Towers, twin skyscrapers that held the title of tallest buildings in the world until 2004.

Between its resorts, beaches, forests and exotic views, Pulau Langkawi has something to offer for everyone. One thing, however, is guaranteed: a refreshing and relaxing stay.
