This year's marathon and Boston Marathon Qualifying Times will fall to stricter security, especially with the shocking and horrible bombing during the marathon last year.

With this stricter enforcement of security, marathon 'bandits', meaning unregistered runners freeloading on the good will of race organizers and officials, will now be closely monitored and removed from the course.

The running community at large may not mind and even welcome this year's marathon and Boston Marathon Qualifying Times' stricter enforcement, especially because they denounce bandits as freeloaders. However, for those who have run the race illegitimately, and for ones who have raised money for charity, veering off course from tradition brought more disappointment than rejoice.

The Boston Marathon is most noted for its historic qualities, as is the Boston Marathon Qualifying Times. However, according to observers, the allure of the marathon has not only caught the attention of legitimate runners, but bandits as well. While smaller marathons have easier entrance, they lack Boston's prestige.

For 20 years, many Boston College students have run as bandits, but altogether raising money and awareness for a special-education school on campus in the process. With this year's break in tradition in the Boston Marathon and the Boston Marathon Qualifying Times, the Campus School Volunteers must make their way from Hopkinton to Copley Square on their own.

Boston Marathon Qualifying Times' strict enforcement have ultimately forced the volunteers to decided to altogether quit the race on April 21 race and just run on their own Sunday.
