Bruce Davis, a murderer and former Charles Manson Associate can now possibly become free. The police recently granted the 71-year-old killer parole on Wednesday in California, said the state Department of Corrections. The parole may sound alarming, however reports say that this doesn't exactly pertain to Bruce Davis becoming a free man once and for all.

Born on the 5th of October in 1942, Bruce Davis was linked to the Zodiac crimes through his association with the Manson Family murders during the late 1960's. Charles Manson, together with his followers were cold-blooded killers who were responsible for the death of many. Tools they used to commit majority of their crimes were bladed ones like bayonets and knives. They were also known for leaving messages written in blood after their murders.

Bruce Davis was sent to state prison on April 21, 1972 and given a life sentence for the deaths of musician Gary Hinman and stuntman Donald "Shorty" Shea in 1969.

It was the corrections department's Board of Parole Hearings who granted Bruce Davis' parole which followed his 28th parole suitability hearing on Wednesday. Despite the parole, there's still a 120-day internal review period, after which Governor Jerry Brown can have 30 days to either nullify or modify the decision. That means there could be another four months for Bruce Davis, or even an option where he will not be released.

In January 2010 and October 2012, the parole board granted him parole, however sitting governors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Brown respectively, reversed the decision.

"When considered as a whole, I find the evidence ... shows why he currently poses a danger to society if released from prison," Brown wrote in 2013 to explain his reversal. If it happens that Bruce Davis becomes free though, he could be the first Manson member to be freed for good behaviour.

Bruce Davis link Charles Manson is currently serving a life sentence for nine murders. In 2012, he was denied parole for the 12th time, and his next hearing is set for 2027.
