Geoff Edwards battles pneumonia before dying a sad death.

Sunny California ceased to become bright for the family of 83-year-old Edwards on Wednesday night, March 5 because of this sad battle with pneumonia of the game show host and its devastating outcome.

His agent Fred Westbrook said that Edwards suffered of complications of pneumonia and eventually died at St. John's hospital in Santa Monica City.

Geoff Edwards was one of the most known hosts in TV history. He once graced our televisions with his trendy fashion during the 1970s and the 1980s hosting game shows. He emceed for 1980s game show Jackpot!, two incarnations of Treasure Hunt in 1981-82, and The New Treasure Hunt, a revival of a 1950s quiz show, from 1973 to 1977.

Destined for the entertainment industry, Edwards also once worked as a radio DJ and actor. He has appeared on TV shows like the Petticoat Junction, Diff'rent Strokes, Starcade and I Dream of Jeannie.

Edwards is dearly missed not only by his family, but by his friends and colleagues as well because of the untoward conclusion of his fight with pneumonia. Fellow game show host Wink Martindale says of his colleague in an interview, "Geoff was one of the cleverest, funniest radio and television personalities I've worked with." Martindale had the chance to work with Edwards and both were DJs at pop radio station KMPC in Los Angeles.

A native of Westfield, N.J., Geoff Edwards is praised by his longtime agent Westbrook saying that Edwards made a dent on TV by peeling off the conventional look of his peers. Westbrook said of his looks back then, "His hair was longer, he never wore a tie, and he favored jeans over suits. He was part of the new breed."

Geoff Edwards had the chance to enjoy good health and write about travel in recent years before battling pneumonia. He had a website for his travel writing and even did radio and TV programs on his wanderlust habits.

As of the moment, Westbrook says funeral plans are pending.

Geoff Edwards battling pneumonia before dying is a miserable event indeed. Let's just hope the former host didn't suffer much during his last hours. He is survived by his wife Michael, and stepsons Justin and Jason Feffer.
