Americans are the best in the world at a lot of things: baseball, accruing debt, invading other countries. But one place where we are falling behind most every other country, especially our wine guzzling European comrades, is in the sack. According to a survey of 26,000 indivuduals conducted by Global Research, USA ranked as one of the least sexually satisfied countries with only 48% of polled individuals claiming sexual satisfaction. And you can be sure the results were accurate because Japan was holding up the very rear with just 15% satisfaction.

Jokes aside, it was the socially liberal countries with more realistic or relaxed attitudes toward sex tend to have lower rates of STDs, teen pregnancies and abortions, and much more satisfying sex lives in general. Sorry Japan.

But what does science measure as the parameters for a fulfiling sex life? The study used the following criteria: mutal love and respect between partners; freedom from stress; ability to orgasm; freedom from sexual dysfunction; good mental and physical health; and frequency of sex and foreplay.

Overall Americans have worse sex, less often than their European counterparts. According to a Men's Health survey of 40,000 readers worldwide, foreign men have sex up to 70 more times a year than we do.

So who ranks as the most sexually satisfied countries in the world? Let's take a look.

5.) The Nederlands
With it's famous red light district, multitude of nude beaches and liberal sex education policies, The Netherlands ranks as one of the most sexually conscious nations in the world. And it doesn't just translate into hot sex. Holland has a teen birth rate of only 5.3 per 1,000 compared with 39.1 per 1,000 in the United States AlterNet reported. That's staggering, but they also experience much lower abortion and HIV rates.

4.) Greece
In one survey this country ranked as the countrymen and women getting it on most frequently. 87% of Grecians had sex at least once a week. They have the most laissez-faire attitudes toward sexual conversations and an ability to tell their partners what satisifies them. They talk about sex at the water cooler at work, with their friends and family and overall 51% of Greek lovers are satisfied with their love lives..

3.) Switzerland
A whopping 72% of Swiss have weekly sex. But it doesn't end (or begin) there. Sex educatin in Switzerland starts as early as kindergartend (gasp!) in true swiss form with a wooden penis and a fabric vagina. 21% of the Swiss say their sex is excellent and even more (36%) have had a one night stand.

2.) Spain
Spain is a lover's paradise. Just ask any woman, Spanish lovers are the best in the world. A poll published by OnePoll.com surveyed 15,000 women around the globe to rank countries with the best and worst male lovers. Spain topped the list while the Germans (too smelly) held up the rear. It is also one of the most sexually satisfied countries at 49% of polled adults in love with their love making, and 32% saying they've publicly made whoopie. And if that doesn't make your heart pump faster, Spanish lovers claimed their satisfaction rose the longer they stayed with one sexual partner.

1.) Italy
Who doesn't want to get frisky after some delicious Italian cuisine? Italy has aphrodesiacs bred into their culture and it shows. 21% of Italians rate their sex lives as 'Excellent' and 76% of adults have that excellent sex at least once a week. Every time you turn around it seems Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is having an affair with a different, hotter super model. Not to be outdone, women who drink at least two glasses of wine a day report having more satisfying sex. Sounds hard to beat.
