Twenty new 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrids have been added to the Zipcar New York fleet at Edison ParkFast locations throughout New York City, announced Edison ParkFast and Zipcar, Inc. in a press release today. The company is the world's leading car sharing network.

"We are thrilled to be able to offer Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrids to our members in the New York area through Zipcar's program with Honda and our relationship with Edison ParkFast," Mark Norman, the President of Zipcar, said. "The large number of convenient Edison ParkFast locations allows Zipcar to provide several sustainable transportation options for area residents and visitors."

The new hybrid vehicles are available to all Zipcar members that are 21 or over, beginning at a cost of $14.50 per hour. The Honda Accord Plug-Ins are located at 10 different locations throughout Manhattan. Each site carrying the vehicle is equipped with Zipcar branded parking spots and charging stations.

"We've enjoyed our partnership with Zipcar since 2008," Stacy Stuart, the Executive Vice President of Marketing and Human Resources at Edison Properties, the parent company of Edison ParkFast, said. "Both companies are committed to providing people in New York and elsewhere with the best possible driving and parking options.

"And with the arrival of Zipcar's Plug-In Hybrid electric vehicles, combined with our ParkFast charging stations, New Yorkers now have a new and environmentally friendly way of getting where they need to go," Stuart continued.

Zipcar has been a longstanding advocate and participant of using advanced vehicle technologies. They were the first car sharing company in the United States to introduce the use of electric vehicles, beginning in Boston in 2002. They were also the first to use hybrid vehicles through a partnership with Honda in Seattle in 2003. Their history of using the newest vehicle technology in partnership with Edison ParkFast has given members of Zipcar access to more alternative fuel vehicles. The service has been ranked highly by members in recent surveys and recently expanded to airports.
