The Griswold's are going on a family vacation. Really. A real world Griswold family built their own Truckster  and happen to own their own vacation company.

Steve and Lisa Griswold found it funny when they would use their credit cards. They would get comments like "Griswold? Ha!  I remember those Vacation movies.  Is that really your name?"

"Everyone remembers Clark Griswold from the 1983 movie National Lampoon's Vacation, and, of course, we have heard every joke in the book, having the last name Griswold," Steve Griswold said.

As fans of the movie themselves, Steve and Lisa decided to make their own Family Truckster. They spent several thousand dollars and had some help from the Internet and were able to purchase a 1984 Ford Country Squire LTD station wagon. The car isn't very glamorous. It's a Metallic Pea Green, wood paneled, over the top station wagon with eight headlights and the gas cap installed in the hood.

"Being a fan of the movie, we wanted a vehicle that would make people smile when they saw it, and having the last name Griswold, it was only a matter of time," said Steve.

To make it more authentic, the car had vintage Samsonite luggage on top and dog leash on the rear bumper. Steve says people love to see the car up close when he stops for gas or is out about town.

Steve and Lisa Griswold happen to own their own vacation company called Pixie Vacations. Since there isn't a real Wally World, they can book a vacation to Walt Disney World instead. They also have Caribbean cruises and many other vacation options.

"We have always loved to travel," says Steve Griswold, "and helping plan fun family vacations was something we always did for friends, so Pixie Vacations was born."

It took the Griswold's six months to complete the Truckster for its first trip to Walt Disney World. Their adventure can be followed on Twitter and Instagram @GriswoldVac.

This won't be the only trip for the Gridwold's. "We will be back to Walt Disney World and I am sure we will be taking many more exciting road trips across America."
