Silversea Cruises' Silver Shadow Under Investigation for CDC Health Inspection

Silversea Cruises' Silver Shadow is under investigation for failing a health score. Cruisecritic.com reported that a report showed that CDC inspectors found that staff hid food, equipment and dishware from heath inspectors during a June CDC and Prevention inspection.

"In a detailed report compiled after the June 17 surprise inspection of Silver Shadow, CDC inspectors documented "an organized effort" to "physically remove over 15 full trolleys of dry foods, spices, canned foods, cooked foods, milk, raw meats, pasteurized eggs, cheeses of all types, baking goods, raw fruits, raw vegetables and a variety of both hand held and counter model food equipment, pans, dishware and utensils to over 10 individual cabins shared by two or three galley crew members in order to avoid inspection by VSP staff," reported Cruisecritic.com.

CDC advised Silversea in the report that all food operations should not be conducted in rooms that were used for sleeping or living.

Inspectors also found that the door to the pool grill pantry was kept open during service, giving flying

"Additional violations were cited for errors in the food cooling process, refrigerator condensers covered in dust and mildew, insect sightings, and inaccurate acute gastroenteritis surveillance logs," reported Cruisecritic.com.

Recently the cruise line announced a 115 day around the world voyage starting on January 5, 2015 and last until May 1. The trip starts in Los Angeles and ends in Fort Lauderdale, reports USA Today.

The trip first heads west to the South Pacific to Australia where it will go on to Asia then head to Afriacn Ports and then across the Atlantic to the Carribbean islands.

The trip will go to amazing locations around the globe including but not limited to Australia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malasyia, Seychelles, Mombasa, Kenya, Zanzibar, Senegal, St Lucia, St. Barts and more.

"The voyage, which opened for bookings on Monday, has been designed to offer extended time in many of the ports, with late departures from eight of the stops and overnight calls in nine locations including Papeete, French Polynesia; Sydney; Hong Kong; Ho Chi Minh City; and Mombasa," reported USA Today.

Fares start at $58, 950 for the 115 day cruise based on a double occupancy. The price include overnight stays at luxury hotels, business class air, transfers, and $4000 to spend on board.

Holland America also has  a new around-the-world cruise for 2014 planned that will stop in 28 ports on five continents. The voyage is 113 days and can take up to 1,380 passengers Amsterdam ship.
