George Zimmerman is dead. At least that's what social media sites are saying. However the killer of Trayvon Martin, who was recently acquitted, didn't die. He's just the victim of a social media death hoax.

There is a lot of anger after the jury decided that Zimmerman was not guilty of the murder of Trayvon Martin as it was done in self defense. Zimmerman is a free man as of now, but that doesn't mean that people still don't want him dead as justice.

A rumor started this week saying that Zimmerman himself died. A supposed TMZ Twitter account wrote, "R.I.P. George Zimmerman. The Killer has been found dead in his house some minutes ago. Read more http://twtpicz.us/15H5vV7 ." A FOX News Twitter account wrote, "*BREAKING NEWS* George Zimmerman was Found Dead in his HOTEL. Suspected to be Suicide. July 17, 2013 2:05pm (PHOTOS): http://twtpicz.us/17lDeoy."

The tweets have been retweeted hundreds of times and have caused people to question the death. Many are celebrating the death and some aren't surprised. Some examples of tweets include:

"George Zimmerman found dead 2 days after being granted not guilty. I knew it was only a matter of time. #RIPTrayvon"

"OMG...Zimmerman is dead!!!"

"George Zimmerman died? YES"

"Told you the the streets would kill em. RIP Zimmerman."

The rumor is false. Zimmerman is still alive. The Twitter accounts that are spreading the rumors are fake. The fake TMZ account was @OfficiaITmzNews, with the "L" of official, being an uppercase "i." The same goes for the fake @OfficiaIFoxNews Twitter account that spread the message. The real TMZ handle is @TMZ and the real Fox handle is @FoxNews. Neither have posted any news about Zimmerman, because he isn't dead. The links included in the fake tweets also have nothing to do with Zimmerman. They're advertisements.

Another man named Zimmerman did die however. Staff Sgt. Sonny C. Zimmerman, 25, of Waynesfield, Ohio, died July 16, in Afghanistan, after being attacked by a rocket propelled grenade.

Some have threatened George Zimmerman and many have said they'll come after him as a free man, but he's still alive as of now.
