On the Norwegian Breakaway passengers can work up a sweat with a workout designed by New York's very own Radio City Music Hall Rockettes. The Rockettes are the godmothers for the New York based ship and their performance christened the shop last week in New York.

Several of them then came on ship for the inaugural cruise which is out to se and abck in two days and hosted a fitness class for passengers that was designed by their trainer Elaine Winslow who used to be a Rockette herself.

"All I can say is, I went in a cynic and came out an admirer. The Rockettes are not only perfect, and beautiful, but they are kind, gracious and fun, so much so that despite my two left feet and inability to follow their moves with any accuracy or grace, I had a total blast and would do the class again in a minute," wrote Beth J. Harpaz for the Associated Press.

Harpaz said that Winslow led the class in the front of the room nothing things like the secret to the kicks is the hip muscles. For future cruises the classes will not be offered on every trip but only when the Rockettes are on the trip. Two Rockettes will be sailing on each of the Breakaway's first six trips and then on the first cruise of each month after that. They will host the classes when they are on the shop.

"And no, we did not attempt the famous eye-high kick - where the dancers move their legs so high and so fast that their feet are practically at eye-level. But we were taught a related move I could not master: Balancing back on the left heel, with toes in the air, we were told to kick the right foot up - not high, but enough so that every time I tried it, I nearly fell down," reported Harpaz.

The Norwegian Breakaway arrived in New York earlier last week after a trip across the Atlantic from Europe. It is one of the biggest ships ever built and to welcome the shop into NYC there has been a host of activities.

"This state-of-the-art ship will feature the best of what the current fleet has to offer such as the exclusive Haven, a relaxing pampering spa and a plethora of dining options," says Norwegian Cruise Lines website about the Breakaway. "Guests will enjoy all the flexibility that Freestyle Cruising has to offer while sailing to the picturesque island of Bermuda. From award winning cuisine, family fun and daily entertainment as well as a wonderful staff and crew the Norwegian Breakaway is sure to be a destination all on its own."
